🍽️ My Experience at Uppers

My daughter and I stopped by Uppers yesterday for what we thought would be a quick lunch.

Huge mistake.

Because apparently this tiny café decided to have a menu with approximately 4,000 things I wanted to order.

We stood there for a solid 20 minutes staring at the menu like contestants on Top Chef while the incredibly kind staff patiently walked us through everything.

And honestly?

Every single thing sounded good.

Stressful. But in a beautiful way.

The café itself is cozy, welcoming, and exactly the kind of neighborhood spot people pretend they “randomly discovered” before telling everyone they know about it.

The Food

We finally committed to the Tuna Melt on Rye with Miss Vickie’s BBQ chips.

And let me tell you:

👉 This sandwich did NOT come to play.

Perfectly toasted bread.
Perfect cheese melt.
Golden crispy edges.
Massive portion.

This thing was huge. Like:

👉 “We should definitely split this.”
👉 absolutely does not split this

Then came the Chicken Ciabatta, which disappeared so quickly I barely remember eating it.

One second it existed.
The next second?

Gone.

A delicious little fever dream.

🍪 The Cookies (Important)

Now we need to discuss the vanilla cookie because I genuinely wasn’t prepared emotionally.

The chocolate chip cookie was excellent.

BUT.

The vanilla cookie?

Absolutely outrageous.

Possibly the best vanilla cookie I’ve ever had in my life.

Soft, buttery, perfect texture, not overly sweet—basically what every bakery cookie wishes it could become when it grows up.

Somewhere in the Netherlands, a Dutch grandmother just sensed competition.

And honestly?

She should.

🙌 Service & Atmosphere

The staff could not have been nicer.

Friendly, welcoming, patient, and somehow still cheerful while we took forever deciding what to order.

Also:

👉 THERE’S A CHARMING BACK PATIO.

Like excuse me??

Why is this tiny café casually delivering peak main-character energy?
