🍽️ My Experience at Ospi

Six of us had dinner at Ospi last night and honestly? The vibes were already strong before the appetizers even arrived.

We got a great window table at 6:45 and were immediately greeted by our server Joe, who basically carried the entire evening on his back. Friendly, attentive, funny—exactly what you want when dining with a group.

The restaurant itself is beautiful: modern Italian energy with lots of twists, turns, and enough ambient lighting to make everyone look like they drink enough water.

We started with wine and dirty martinis.

👉 The wine was great.
👉 The martini? Elite.

I was relaxed by the third sip and honestly willing to forgive almost anything after that.

⭐ The Food

Let’s talk about the real star—THE FOOD.

We started with the Japanese Eggplant:

👉 Spicy tomato oil, parm fonduta, basil, pangrattato.
Most of the table loved it…

But personally? It nearly took me out.

Apparently Ospi believes “mild” is just a suggestion.

Next came the Crispy Rhode Island Calamari:

👉 Gluten-free, crispy, light, delicious.
This disappeared immediately.

Then the Caesar salad:

👉 Local greens, cacio e pepe dressing, pangrattato.
One salad easily feeds two people unless your table loses all self-control (possible).

For mains:

Three of us ordered the Chicken Parm:

👉 Brown butter, mozzarella, vodka sauce, basil, capellini.

The flavor? Excellent.
The spice level? Unexpected attack.

And THIS is my issue:

👉 If something is spicy, just SAY IT.
I shouldn’t need a recovery beverage halfway through chicken parm.

Meanwhile, the spicy food lover at the table was thriving with the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka like this was his personal Olympics.

The Seared Salmon was perfectly cooked with broccolini and toasted quinoa, and the Crispy Sole Milanese was another standout.

At some point we all stopped talking and focused exclusively on surviving the spice levels and drinking martinis.

🙌 Service

Joe was outstanding from start to finish.

The only awkward moment?

At 9:30, the hostess gently reminded us another party was waiting for the table because we had officially exceeded the two-hour dining limit.

And listen…

I get it.

But nothing humbles you faster than essentially hearing:
👉 “Respectfully…time’s up.”

LA Eats Worth It? Yes. Just don’t lose track of time—or your vocal cords explaining that the chicken parm is unexpectedly spicy.
