Straight outta West Philly, two hip-hop-loving creatives turned a pandemic cinnamon bun craving into a full-blown sugar empire. The concept? “Where hip hop and baking collide.” The execution? Absolutely understood the assignment.
Now let’s talk about the important stuff: carbs.
A recent cinnamon-fueled adventure to Sherman Oaks brought us to this colorful little gem on Van Nuys Blvd, complete with bright vibes, tiny yellow patio tables, and the kind of cheerful aesthetic that makes you immediately justify ordering extra frosting.
Choosing a cinnamon roll here is not a decision. It’s a personality test.
Do you go classic?
Do you go cereal-topped chaos?
Do you let lemon zest enter the chat?
The lineup includes:
- The Little Kim (Fruity Pebbles — because subtlety is overrated)
- The Dre (lemon zest for the citrus crowd)
- The Cardi (butter pecan sauce and pecans, aka luxury energy)
- And of course, The Big Poppa — the OG organic cinnamon bun crowned with organic cream cheese icing.
After serious deliberation (and by serious, I mean staring dramatically at the menu), the Big Poppa won. And honestly? No regrets.
It was warm, fluffy, gooey in the center, perfectly spiced, and unapologetically slathered in cream cheese frosting. The kind of frosting that doesn’t whisper — it announces itself. Every bite felt like a hug with bass in the background.
And the coffee? Let’s discuss.
The D’Angelo — brown sugar and cold foam — was dangerously good. Smooth, rich, sweet-but-not-too-sweet, and easily one of those “why is this so good?” cups that makes you pause mid-sip. It did not come to play.
Service was friendly and quick, the vibe was fun, and the sugar high was very real.
Will there be a return visit?
Absolutely.
Because when hip hop meets cinnamon rolls, resistance is futile.
