Blue Dog has been wagging its tail in Sherman Oaks since 2009, and honestly, it’s the kind of place that makes you wonder: “Why don’t all restaurants let me eat a burger while staring into the soulful eyes of 200 dogs on the wall?” Forget Instagram—this is canine art at its peak. I’ve already decided my dog, Murphy Lepp, will have his glamour shot hanging there next time.
Let’s talk drinks first. Beer people, you’re going to lose your minds—rotating taps with everything from light, wheaty brews to citrusy sours. Basically, if you like your beer fizzy, funky, or fancy, you’ll find your paw-fect pint. And if you’re not a beer drinker (hi, that’s me), there’s wine, bubbly, and other ways to get your tail wagging.
But oh… the burgers. My Blue Dog Burger was a work of edible art: applewood-smoked bacon, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and root beer BBQ sauce, all cuddled up in a buttery bun. Every bite was a happy growl. I paired it with Parmesan-Garlic fries—let’s just say I would fight a Doberman for the last one.
My friend ordered the Ahi Tuna Burger—sashimi-grade ahi topped with coleslaw and wasabi aioli. She declared it “wonderful,” which is foodie code for she didn’t want to share. Rude.
Dessert? Oh, there’s only one: the Ice Cream Sandwich. Homemade chocolate chip cookies hugging vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup drizzled on top. Honestly, I considered ordering one for myself and one for my imaginary dog sitting next to me. (Don’t judge.)
Blue Dog is the trifecta: great food, good drinks, and dog-lover heaven. If you’ve got a pup, a craving for a killer burger, or just want to stare at wall-to-wall doggos while you eat—this is your spot. Sit. Stay. Eat.
