Bread Head

Today my friend and I wandered into Bread Head on Montana Avenue “just for a sandwich,” which is adorable because this bread deserves a full commitment. First things first: the staff is exceptionally friendly—like, makes-you-want-to-come-back-even-if-you’re-full friendly.

Now let’s talk about the bread. This is homemade, custom focaccia baked every few hours in special pans with a light glaze on top. I am not exaggerating when I say I would restructure my diet around this bread. I desperately wish they sold loaves because I would eat it daily and accept whatever consequences came with that lifestyle choice. Also, Bread Head, if you’re listening: please make an open-faced melted cheese sandwich on this bread. I am begging. It would be elite. Iconic. Life-altering.

We ordered the Chicken Salad Sandwich—house-roasted chicken salad with shaved green apple and apple butter—and wow. It’s fresh, flavorful, perfectly balanced, and 100% something I’d order again without even looking at the menu. No regrets. No notes.

The space itself doesn’t have much ambience, but honestly? Who cares when the sandwiches are this good. Plus, the bathroom is shockingly cool and spotless, which feels like an underrated flex.

We had chips on the side and split a brown butter chocolate chip cookie that was so good it nearly distracted me from thinking about the bread again. Next time, we’re absolutely trying the Ham and Butter Sandwich (Benton’s Tennessee country ham?! Yes please) and the BLT because clearly we must return and continue our research.

So glad we stopped in—and yes, we will 100% be back soon. Possibly tomorrow. Possibly forever.
