Davenport’s

We had dinner here recently, and I’ll start with the highlight: the service was top-notch. Our server was efficient, polite, and the staff overall made us feel very welcome—hospitality done right.

Where things didn’t quite land for me was the food. I began with the Iceberg Wedge salad, expecting that classic combo of crisp lettuce, smoky bacon, and a blue cheese dressing that packs a punch. Instead, it felt a little underdressed and light on the toppings—more “lean salad” than “hearty wedge.”

For my entrée, I went with the Parmesan-Crusted Jidori Chicken Breast topped with lemon caper butter sauce, alongside mashed potatoes and steamed spinach. It sounded indulgent on the menu, but on the plate it didn’t quite wow me the way I hoped.

The rest of the table, however, had a much better experience. My friend really enjoyed her Grilled Faroe Island Salmon with bourbon-soy glaze, and both of our husbands gave rave reviews to their Prime Rib French Dip sandwiches—gooey gruyere, mushrooms, shallots, all tucked into a banh mi hoagie. Definitely a hit.

So maybe it was just my choices that didn’t show the kitchen at its best. With service this good and plenty of tempting dishes on the menu, I’d be open to giving Davenport’s another try—next time, I’ll take the hint from my dining companions and follow their lead.
