La Scala has been one of our favorite restaurants for years, so when I recently noticed it sitting at a two-and-a-half-star rating on Yelp, I was honestly offended on its behalf. In Beverly Hills. For La Scala. I needed answers.
So we went to dinner last night to investigate.
There were four of us, and despite the restaurant being absolutely packed (as in, peak Beverly Hills scene packed), we were seated immediately at our reservation time and greeted warmly. No chaos. No waiting. No awkward hovering by the bar pretending not to be hungry. The service throughout the entire night was top-tier—professional, attentive, and exactly what you expect from a place that’s been doing this longer than most trends have existed.
The restaurant itself is classic Beverly Hills in the best way. It’s beautiful, cozy, and timeless. I will forever love the twinkle-light bar—it’s iconic at this point. The booths are plush and comfortable and somehow make you feel like you’re eating in a real nonna’s kitchen… if that nonna lived in Beverly Hills and had impeccable lighting.
We kicked things off with drinks, obviously. A glass of Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc—bright, fresh, crisp New Zealand perfection—and some prosecco, because that’s just how dinner should start. For starters, we shared the Mozzarella Marinara and the famous Chopped Salad with Leon dressing. This salad never gets old. Ever. It’s the kind of dish you order every time and still talk about like it’s new.
For entrees, we fully committed. We ordered the Chicken Meatballs and Spaghetti special, Scampi, Linguini and Clams, and Chicken Paillard. Every single dish was a hit. Comforting, flavorful, and unapologetically classic. No foam. No confusion. Just really good Italian food served the way it’s supposed to be.
And yes, we saved room for dessert—because you always save room for tiramisu. Always. Light, creamy, and the perfect end to a very Beverly Hills dinner.
I gave La Scala five stars in 2022, and I’m giving it five stars again. Any restaurant that has survived this long in Beverly Hills—while keeping its ambiance, quality of food, and outstanding service intact—deserves serious respect. La Scala knows exactly who it is, doesn’t chase trends, and still delivers every single time.
Classic. Iconic. Still packed for a reason. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
