At Lodge Bread Company, they bake sourdough that’s both wildly delicious and just the right amount of nerdy. They lean into fermentation, partner with local farmers and millers, and let their Middle Eastern roots add serious flavor. Think classics, but with sesame swagger.
What started as two friends tinkering in a backyard wood oven turned into a mission: make simple food that tastes anything but simple and build a community around carbs, butter, and good vibes.
Led by founder Or Amsalam — two-time James Beard Award Semifinalist and dough-whisperer — Lodge Bread exists to feed people warmly, generously, and with soul (plus a little culinary mischief).
Their menu is full of the best kind of tough decisions. Breakfast highlights include mega-sized cinnamon rolls (big enough to share… if you’re feeling gracious), cinnamon toast with cultured butter and sea salt, and avocado toast stacked with radish, lemon, and extra virgin olive oil — with the option to crown it with a perfect egg. For something heartier, the Breakfast Sammie lands on a brioche roll with eggs, cheddar, arugula, mayo, and your choice of bacon or sausage. The Jambon Beurre layers country ham, gruyère, cultured butter, and Dijon on a baguette that refuses to apologize. And if you’re craving something fresher, the Cobb Salad delivers gem lettuce, scallions, hard-boiled egg, bacon, avocado, cherry tomatoes, turkey, and fontina, all tied together with house-made ranch.
On the way out, carb-load like a champion with their freshly baked breads — country, seeded country, olive and herb, ancient grain, baguettes, Jerusalem bagel, and brioche. Don’t sleep on the cult-favorite Cheese Loaf: a country loaf stuffed with havarti, Gruyère, and cracked black pepper that should honestly come with a warning label. On Fridays, challah makes a grand entrance (braids optional, delight guaranteed). They’ve been charming taste buds for years — and odds are, they’ll charm yours too.
