We had dinner at Lula’s last night with another couple, and let’s just say… this fiesta did not salsa the way we hoped.
Our server seemed very impatient when my friend took a moment to choose a drink. Instead of offering suggestions, he just stood there staring like a frozen statue in a telenovela. Awkward. We finally ordered margaritas that were muy fuerte—strong enough to knock out a mariachi—but sadly lacking in flavor.
We started with guacamole and had to request extra chips twice, which felt a little tragic. The guac itself was okay, but some bites came with a surprise heat level we weren’t warned about. Then came the fajitas. The sizzling and smoking lasted a solid ten minutes—long enough to summon the fire department. Despite asking if they were spicy and being told “no,” there was something in them that brought full-on mouth-on-fire vibes. I know spice is subjective, but my taste buds were waving the white flag.
My husband’s enchiladas were described as “just okay.” One friend enjoyed her chile rellenos, while her husband’s plate also landed in the “meh” category. To top it off, the noise level was so loud we were basically yelling over our tacos like it was Taco Tuesday at a rock concert.
Sadly, this visit didn’t bring the sabor or the service we were hoping for. No hard feelings, but Lula’s just wasn’t our kind of fiesta. 🌶️🌮💃
