Magnolia Bakery

Magnolia Bakery 3rd Street: Cupcakes, Chaos, and Childhood in a Bite

Listen. I’m a New York girl at heart — I love the grimy subway, the sidewalk sass, the “I’m walkin’ here!” energy, and most importantly, the bakeries. So I’m more than willing to make the trek from the Marina to 3rd and Orlando toMagnolia Bakery.

Walk inside and you’ll swear you’ve wandered into a dessert dream. It’s pastel perfection — like a storybook where the main characters are butter, sugar, and nostalgia. Cupcakes, cookies, and cakes gleam behind glass, whispering, “You deserve this.” Spoiler: they’re right.

Let’s talk cupcakes.
The Vanilla Classic is the Beyoncé of cupcakes — rich, buttery, and flawless every time. It’s topped with vanilla buttercream and dreamy pastel sprinkles that scream, “I’m here for the party.” The Chocolate Classic? Moist, velvety, and available with either chocolate or vanilla frosting — a tough choice, but honestly, you can’t lose here.

Then there are the specialty flavors: Red Velvet, Confetti, Banana Caramel, Coconut, Carrot — it’s like the United Nations of cupcakes.

Now, the legend: the Banana Pudding.
Layers of vanilla wafers, fresh bananas, and creamy pudding that somehow tastes like love and childhood and that one perfect summer afternoon you still think about. You’ll plan to share, but you won’t. (It’s okay. We’ve all lied about sharing dessert.)

Cakes, Brownies, and Cookies — oh my!
Cakes come in a dozen-plus flavors, two or three layers of happiness, decorated or “naked” if you’re into that rustic look. Then there are the Blondies and Brownies — chewy, fudgy slabs of joy that make adulting slightly more bearable.

And the cookies? Chewy, golden, homemade perfection. The Cracked Sugar is the unsung hero, Brown Sugar tastes like a cozy hug, and the Chocolate Chunk could win a city election.

Bonus round: muffins! Try the Cinnamon Sugar one — it’s basically a donut in disguise and I’m not mad about it.

If Magnolia Bakery doesn’t make you feel like a sugar-high kid at a birthday party again, check your pulse — you might be made of kale.
