Today I lunched with one of my besties at one of our forever favorite haunts: the Brentwood Country Mart. I like most of the places there, but let’s be honest—I always end up exactly where my heart (and stomach) lives: Reddi Chick.
Reddi Chick Rotisserie & BBQ has been holding it down since 1950, which in Los Angeles years basically makes it prehistoric—in the best possible way. This place should be declared a Brentwood historical monument, complete with a plaque that reads: “Enter hungry. Leave very, very full.”
Our standing order is the Rotisserie Chicken Basket: half a juicy chicken and what I firmly believe are the world’s best French fries. These fries are seasoned with a mysterious, magical salt that I would happily sprinkle on everything, including my résumé. Then there’s the secret BBQ sauce—perfect for dipping chicken, fries, fingers, and possibly your dignity.
The Rib Basket is another favorite, featuring tender, meaty pork ribs that fall apart faster than my willpower. The kid in me (hi, it’s me) always wants the Chicken Tender Basket—four crispy, golden strips of pure joy. And when I’m feeling particularly reckless—like “I regret nothing” reckless—I go for the Fried Clam Basket.
But wait, because the baked potatoes deserve their own moment. There are over 25 varieties, which feels both exciting and mildly overwhelming. Our favorite is #20: chicken, butter, sour cream, jack cheese, and guacamole. It’s less a baked potato and more a fully loaded emotional support meal.
You can also order sharing sizes—like a whole rotisserie chicken or pork ribs—but let’s be real, “sharing” is more of a suggestion than a rule.
And today’s surprise grand finale? A chocolate malt. Thick, old-school, and criminally underrated. One sip and I was transported back to a time when calories didn’t count and pants were optional.
In conclusion, Reddi Chick isn’t just a meal—it’s a lifestyle. I came for lunch, left needing a nap, and immediately started planning my next visit. If loving Reddi Chick is wrong, I don’t want to be right… and I’ll see you there ordering fries like I didn’t just eat them yesterday. 🍗🍟🥤😆
