There is always a line to get in, you might spy Jesus across the street outside Coffee Bean, or even catch sight of some hot new director coming out from a screening at the DGA next door; but the real star here is The Griddle. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself sitting next to Beyonce and Jay-Z, or just another Hollywood hopeful. Whatever, wait in line for 45 minutes and know it will be the best 45 minutes you’ve ever spent. From the minute the doors open at 8am on Saturday and Sunday, the place is packed, and I mean packed. Come hungry and you still won’t finish everything. Start off with a pot of French Press J. Gursey Blue’s Blend Medium Roast. This is definitely one of the best pots of coffee to be had in LA! We had to try the Brown Sugar-Baked Bananas ($1.50). They are pure heaven! Sliced Thick Bacon ($4.50) is delicious and flavorful and comes with four huge, thick, juicy slices. Dive into the Good Ol’ Fashioned Buttermilk Pancakes ($7.95). Four pancakes, the size of dinner plates made with an original buttermilk recipe, are griddle cooked to perfection and served with 100% pure Vermont maple syrup. You have not tasted home-style French Toast until you’ve tasted Mom’s French Toast ($9.95). Huge slices of egg-dipped bread is perfectly cooked on the griddle then topped with powdered sugar and whipped butter. Egg dishes are served with griddle potatoes, sliced tomatoes, cottage cheese or fresh fruit and a choice of toast. The Baked Potato Omelette ($9.95) is loaded with griddle potatoes, sour cream, and scallions. Of course I added cheddar ($.95) and bacon ($2.95). This was a mighty combination and I must say, one of the best dishes I’ve had. Service is A+. You will get to know your neighbors too, so be friendly.
