I thought I knew what a cookie was…then The Pantry by Baker showed up and ruined all other cookies for me.
Michael Baker (yes, the baker’s last name is actually Baker — destiny is real, people) crafts these 4oz monsters of joy using Sierra Nevada Cheese Company’s award-winning European Style butter. Translation: these cookies are richer than your friend who “just dabbles in real estate.”
Then comes Valrhona French chocolate. Not just chocolate — chocolate with a Parisian accent. Add in organic eggs, organic vanilla that practically sings in every bite, flour, sugar, and a sexy sprinkle of Maldon salt. That’s it. Simple ingredients, but executed like a Michelin-star chef decided to slum it in cookie land.
My personal fave? The Couverture Chocolate Cookie (aka chocolate chip sea salt). Sweet, salty, melty, chewy—basically an emotional support cookie. The Espresso Chocolate Cookie is another stunner, with a little espresso powder kick that whispers, “You can totally eat cookies for breakfast.”
Bonus points: all the cookies are nut-free, individually wrapped (aka perfectly portioned) and available to order via Instagram (@thepantrybybaker) or their website (www.thepantrybybaker.com). If you’re local, pre-order and pick up in Brentwood.
Do yourself a favor: stop pretending kale is your favorite thing and go get a cookie.
